Drive System Design Wins Prestigious Award at British Engineering Excellence Awards 2010

Drive System Design (DSD), a leading transmission engineering consultancy located in Southam Warwickshire, has been awarded "Consultancy of the Year" at the British Engineering Excellence Awards 2010. DSD had been shortlisted against two other companies, Lotus Engineering and ML Electronics, from all the nominations received.

Over the last twelve months DSDs innovative design work in Magnetic Actuators and Park Brakes along with their case study on a Hybridised Automated Manual Transmission has lead the BEEA awards panel to recognise their achievements and award them the prestigious "Consultancy of the Year" accolade.

The panel of Judges described the secret of Drive System Design's success as "solid expertise well sold" and were impressed that the company had "achieved traction in a highly competitive market very quickly". The Judges continued; having started in 2007, DSD has rapidly carved a niche for itself in the automotive industry, establishing itself as, amongst other things, the 'go to' consultancy for electric vehicle design.
Speaking on receipt of the award, Technical Director Alex Tylee-Birdsall said "We are honoured to receive such an award and to be recognised for our contribution to engineering. The award is the culmination of three years hard work where the team has focussed on providing leading solutions while delivering high levels of innovation with a constant focus on exceeding customer expectations."

The awards were held at London's legendary Globe Theatre and were hosted by engineer, presenter and broadcaster, Kate Bellingham, renowned for her work promoting engineering excellence and made famous as one of the hosts on the BBC's "Tomorrows World" programme.
