Senior Project Accountant

Location: Leamington Spa

Join a talented and ambitious global engineering consultancy specializing in the rapid engineering and development of sustainable electrified propulsion systems and associated technologies, working directly and collaboratively with automotive, commercial vehicle, off-highway, aerospace and defence OEMs, Tier-1s and industry research bodies through our technical centres in North America, the U.K. and India.

 

Personal Profile and Experience

In the role of Senior Project Accountant, you’ll be expected to use strong financial controls and process, alongside a robust approach to both management and project accounting, whilst understanding the flexibility required for a growing company within a larger Group. You will be responsible for the accurate and timely reporting of all financial and management information across the business.

You will be familiar with consolidation of multiple P&Ls and able to recommend working methods to ensure this remains robust and easy to achieve month on month whilst providing detailed management information to the senior leadership teams.

You will ensure the effective and best use of internal finance resources to deliver the highest quality internal service to the business, aiding decision making and future direction.  You will have ownership of providing management information to the executive teams and driving the involvement of Finance throughout the business.

What you will need

  • Part Qualified / Qualified / QBE – CIMA
  • Project accounting understanding
  • Experience in a consultancy or similar projects business
  • High level of Excel capability (incl. VBA programming)
  • SQL knowledge desirable
  • Sage 200 experience desirable
  • Ability to deal with all levels of staff including engineers

Key Responsibilities

  • Owning the annual budgets and the quarterly forecasting process, developing rolling forecasts
  • Undertaking and preparing monthly management and project accounts for DSD, including 3 separate P&Ls (US, UK, India)
  • Preparation of Operational Board reporting across 3 P&Ls and consolidated the P&Ls monthly
  • Overseeing database effectiveness and improving the supporting financial databases (projects, timesheets)
  • Attending all monthly project WIP (work in progress) meetings and ownership of project accounting
  • Assisting in the development and progression of business support throughout the business
  • Line managing of 3 people withing the finance team
  • Taking responsibility for your own continual development, exhibiting a passion for learning and facing new challenges
  • Working collaboratively with colleagues, clients, stakeholders and contributing to the team ethic at work
  • Acting as a role model for DSD’s values and professional standards
  • Adapting to the needs of a growing and developing business
