Server Administrator and IT Support

Location: Farmington Hills, Michigan, USA

Personal Profile and Experience

We are seeking a candidate with excellent communication and teamwork skills. The Server Administrator is responsible to support the IT operations team by administering information systems and to provide all other administering services to the IT Operations department and staff.

What you will need

  • Must have worked in a customer-facing IT support role for 2+ years.
  • Microsoft Associate Qualification or higher.
  • Be familiar with ticket systems, logging and remote management and monitoring processes.
  • Deep working knowledge of the Microsoft stack of technology at administrator level, including Windows Server, Azure, Active Directory and Office 365.
  • Highly technical around networking (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP etc.) and data communications.
  • Demonstrate strong leadership abilities, including the ability to motivate and inspire junior colleagues, delegate tasks effectively, and lead by example.
  • Display excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically to resolve technical issues and implement process improvements.
  • Possess project management skills, including planning, execution, and monitoring, to manage IT projects effectively.
  • Can address and resolve conflicts within the team, ensuring a harmonious and productive work environment.
  • Identify areas for process improvement within the 2nd Line team and work on implementing enhancements to increase efficiency and service quality.
  • ITIL process aware and be able to create and maintain operational support documentation.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • US Person (required for access to server for export-controlled projects).

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver support for all Windows-based technologies / services, including Windows Server and Microsoft Azure.
  • Deliver project support to all areas of the business.
  • Responding to helpdesk tickets and deal with or pass to the relevant members of the technical team.
  • Liaising with our suppliers and dealing with any supplier issues.
  • Implementing ISO 27001 and Cyber Essentials certification and US office adherence.
  • Server room control (APC UPS systems).
  • HP Network switched and VLANs.
  • Wi-Fi updates/maintenance / Office Printers.
  • Ad-hoc IT support and point of contact with IT management in UK.
  • Microsoft Windows Server administration (ITAR).
  • To ensure Special projects server is running to NIST 800-53/800-171 standard (ITAR).
  • Update documentation re NIST.
  • Manage fixed assets within CMDB system.
  • User and folder access for ITAR server / SVN / FTP servers.
  • Understand Windows Hyper-V and HA clustering (ALL US servers run on this).
  • Maintain ITAR Network switch.
  • Create Project Folders and maintain exclusive access to folders.
  • Manage ITAR Backup system to Azure (MABS).
  • Utilizing Unified Endpoint Management system.
  • Focal point for receiving Laptops (onboarding via Intune).
  • 1st and 2nd Line Support duties.
  • Fix hardware issues & network cabling.
