Power Electronics

We consult on the detail design and optimisation of power electronics including ‘X in 1’ EDUs, eMotor design, DC/DC converters, inverters and on-board chargers (OBC) as well as control system architecture.

DSD’s multi-disciplined engineers work across both systems and functions, supported and enabled by on-site test facilities at our technical centres.

Our clients retain all IP from their projects, allowing them to innovate with confidence.

R&D and Strategy

DSD specialises in the design of high voltage power electronics for a range of propulsion applications, from battle tanks to eVTOLs, and even the actuation of medical prosthetics.

Ensure your project is set up for success from the beginning with our Electrified Propulsion Optimisation Process (ePOP) tool. This platform quickly runs hundreds of thousands of simulations to enable data-driven decisions for power electronic projects and designs.

DSD’s extensive experience combined with this powerful simulation tool greatly expedites technical and commercial strategy development.

Product Engineering

DSD uses simulation-led engineering to confirm performance and attribute requirements early in eMotor, power electronics, driveline and control system projects. Our electrified drive systems and components are scalable, and we prioritise the transfer of technical knowledge.

We offer the rapid development of eMotor control and embedded software algorithms from requirements to verification.

DSD specialises in eMotor hardware design and adaptation projects, including electromagnetic, thermal, mechanical and peak/continuous performance analysis.

Open Platform Inverter (OPI) Our Open Platform Inverter (OPI) is our proprietary open software development platform which offers a wide range of benefits for our clients. - Accelerated route to production - Benchmark off-the-shelf products - Upskill client engineering teams - Enable innovative technology development

Validation and Development

Extensive in-house electrified system development and test capabilities at our UK and USA premises.
They include:
- Dedicated system build certification and facilities
- Loaded shock and vibration environmental testing
- EMC/EMI environments
- Hardware-in-the-loop (HIL), P-HIL and C-HIL labs and more

Production Support

From IP generation to performance verification and validation, DSD supports every phase of our client’s high voltage or power electronic system product lifecycle.
